Sendas Cósmicas \ I

Sendas Cósmicas \ I meditates on geological manifestations found in the transitional Icelandic landscape. Iceland is located in one of the most geologically active places on Earth, right on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Anthropogenic, man-made global warming is now of such a magnitude that it’s pulling Iceland’s climate outside of the natural variations and pushing the territory to increased volcanic activity as a consequence of deglaciation.

In collaboration with Hverir Geothermal Area, landscape imprints have been taken so that natural chemical processes could be transferred into the chemical surface of light-sensitive photographic paper for earth matter to take over the artistic creation, and to shift just as the physicality of the landscape conspicuously does in today’s Anthropocene.
